Meadows Symphony Orchestra: Sleeper, Szymanowski and Verdi

The program features the world premiere of Symphony No. 4 by Meadows alumnus Thomas Sleeper (M.M. ’80), a noted composer/conductor praised by critics for his rich lyricism and soaring melodies. Meadows Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Borok will join the MSO for the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski (1916); considered the first modern violin concerto, the work is noted for its ecstatic, sumptuous music. The program also includes the overture to Giuseppe Verdi’s famed tragic opera La forza del destino (the Force of Destiny).
